THE DIXIE DEAN STORY

The Dixie Dean Story has unveiled the actor who will play Dixie Dean.

Steve Hazlehurst, from Birkenhead, will play the Everton legend in the unique stage production.

The Dixie Dean story celebrates the 80th anniversary of the 60 League goals that Dean accumulated during the 1927-28 season.

The play written by John Keith (Dixie Dean’s biographer) and produced by Art2U will be performed at the Crosby Civic Theatre on May 5 and 6. The project will outreach to schools and youth groups throughout Merseyside to teach children the remarkable story of the Goodison legend.

Speaking to evertonTV, Steve, who attended the same school as Dixie, reveals his excitement to play a man of Dean’s stature. He said: “I’m so proud and privileged to play the part of Dixie Dean. I have been told by a few people that I’ve got a physical likeness and that is great for the role. I’m just so excited and I can’t wait to start learning the script.”
